FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything homeowners ask before requesting quotes.

Using Findfitter

How long does it take to get quotes?

You’ll hear from up to 4 FENSA-registered installers within 24 hours. Most first responses arrive within a few hours — many within an hour during business hours.

Is there any obligation to accept a quote?

None at all. Compare quotes at your own pace. You’re only ever committed once you sign an installer’s contract directly. We recommend reading any contract carefully before signing.

Will my details be shared or spammed?

Your details are shared only with up to 4 fitters matched to your postcode. We’re GDPR compliant and ICO registered. No marketing spam — ever. Request data deletion anytime by emailing privacy@findfitter.co.uk.

Is Findfitter free to use?

Yes — 100% free for homeowners. No booking fees, no hidden costs, no credit card required. We are paid a referral fee by installers only when a quote request results in a genuine enquiry.

What areas do you cover?

We cover all of the UK — England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Enter your postcode on the quote form to check available installers in your area.

Costs & quotes

How much does new double glazing cost in 2026?

Typical uPVC windows range from £450–£900 per window installed. A whole-house replacement (8–10 windows) is usually £4,000–£9,000 depending on style and material. Aluminium and composite cost 20–50% more. Our comparison service typically saves 20–40% vs single quotes.

Why do quotes vary so much between installers?

Installers have different overheads, margins, suppliers, and seasonal workloads. National chains carry heavy advertising costs — local FENSA-registered installers often offer identical quality for significantly less. That’s why comparing is essential.

Is finance available?

Many of our fitters offer 0% finance or monthly payment plans — new windows from as little as £43/month with no upfront cost. Mention finance in your quote request and we’ll match you with installers that offer it.

Installers & credentials

What’s a FENSA-registered fitter, and why does it matter?

FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) is the UK’s leading certification for replacement window installers. A FENSA certificate proves your install meets building regulations — essential if you sell your house. It also comes with an insurance-backed warranty, so you’re protected if the installer goes out of business.

How do I verify an installer’s credentials?

All installers in our network are verified at sign-up. You can independently check any installer’s FENSA registration at fensa.org.uk or Certass at certass.co.uk.

What happens if an installer does poor work?

FENSA-registered installers provide an insurance-backed warranty. If something goes wrong, you’re covered — and you have a formal complaints route via FENSA’s dispute resolution process. Let us know too and we’ll remove any installer who doesn’t meet our standards.

Eligibility

I’m a tenant — can I still get quotes?

Quotes require homeowner consent because installers need to survey the property. If you’re a tenant, share Findfitter with your landlord — they can get quotes through us.

I’m just researching — should I still submit?

If you’re 6+ months away from buying, we recommend reading our buyer’s guides first. If you’re within 6 months, submitting now gives you reference prices to plan your budget.

Can you quote for a listed building or conservation area?

Yes — we work with installers experienced in heritage and conservation work. Mention this in the “Additional information” field when submitting a quote, and we’ll match you with specialists.
